Following the success of Activision’s 1982 video game Pitfall, the company launched a Pitfall-themed amusement park for kids in the mid-1980s. However, the park was short-lived, shutting down after just a few months due to significant safety hazards. Numerous children fell victim to the park’s perils, including being devoured by alligators, getting lost in underground tunnels teeming with scorpions, and sinking into treacherous tar pits.
